The Trivial Bombs in Mumbai

Yes...I know...Trivial is not a word to use for this 26/11 Mumbai attack. Neither to use with bombs at all.

But you know, Trivial is really the perfect word.

Of very little importance or value; insignificant

It's trivial as these bomb blasts will be just like them. These meticulous bombs that we have will generate lot of interest, lot of speculation, people will talk about it a lot, marvel about the brains of the terrorist and at the end of the day, just forget about it. Who cares if the death toll will rise to 125 or 200...? In another 2 months life will be the same.

Another bomb blast. This is just disgusting and appalling. As soon as I turned on the TV pictures and reports of the Taj and Oberoi started flashing with various news channels trying to favour the TRPs towards themselves. Even Barkha Dutt asked complete "Aaj tak" questions.

And I think "not again!"...

I feel so bugged and embarrassed that this is happening yet again. I mean 1 blast per year is ok as the times are bad and the defence helpless but so many blasts one after another is just plain appalling.

How much more will we be able to stand 'united'? People in Mumbai are going through a financial crisis and hating all non residential, how we are supposed to be fight this together.

And I am a 100 % sure that after 3-4 weeks life in Mumbai will return back to normal. People will start lazing from their jobs and would be feeling normal again. After the usual press conference and "never again" motto and ideology so poorly backed up with plans, the ministers and security will yet again be opening doors to danger.

I am telling you all, if you are thinking that "this is it!! I am done with this. No more war and terrorist attacks." I hate to break it to you but this is so gonna happen yet all over again.

And all you people talking big words about democracy, law and order, bribes do you actually thing that from now on you will not take a bribe. Or give one. Or be a responsible citizen. NO. I guarantee after 2 months you all would have forgotten this as 'yet another blast', with your 'nothing I can do attitude'.

BTW – all the tom dick and harry bloggers who post messages with determination to eradicate these sort of attacks and pledging to never let this happen again, don't. Posting such 'rebellious against the system' messages will not help. It never does. Ever. At least not in India.

  1. Your punch words are well taken - however if one sits back and realizes that is the only way we can - as citizens - give true meaning to democracy and lasting prosperity.

I agree with you that these *naive* comments by tom, dick and harry bloggers never works - unfortunately in the "good times" most of us simply do not think about trivialities which matter most.

I agree with you that things will recur - but unlike yourself I am hopeful that incidents like these should be used to remind people of who we actually are.

I am sorry to say that if not - then what happened in Mumbai is the logical outcome of what "should" have happened and pretty soon this fire is going to spread to the rest of the country.

As Indians - and presumably that includes you - we deserve no better. A collective social intellect failed.

  3. Thanks' hope so too.
    One can only hope.
Only if all of us together work towards the goal of a peaceful India then only this dream that all the Indians share happen...

Otherwise we are mere skittles...we know the bowling ball will come and hit us. Hard
Even though we all are together we all will fall. The machine will take us back and make up stand upright once again but only to lead us to fall. All over again...
